The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins. I think I need to reread this one soon. I have so much love for this book, it’s messed up in all the right ways. Explores a group of adopted children raised by a man with ancient and terrible power. The way it delves into what happens when one of them, Carolyn, inherits that power and starts to lose her humanity is so compelling. Seriously, so much love for this book.
White Oleander by Jane Fitch. A young girl’s odyssey through many different foster homes once her mother is sent to prison for murder. Growing up and exploring who you are, a study of nature vs. nurture.
